Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Software Test Engineer (m/f/d) - Electric Powertrain to join our mobility electronics – software engineering team at our Aachen Engineering Centre (AEC) in Wegberg, Germany. In this role, you will contribute to both OEM projects and the development of innovative in-house automation solutions for software validation, processes, tools, and methods in global projects. 

Role/Responsibilities 

As an integral part of our team, you will be responsible for implementing highly automated test cases, managing the test execution process, evaluating results, and reporting problems. Daily collaboration with our core development team in Japan and relevant internal departments in Germany/Europe is essential. Your key responsibilities include: 

  • Creating and reviewing test specifications.
  • Implementing automated test cases and sequences in a test environment with a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test system. 
  • Executing tests using test tools and measurement equipment. 
  • Evaluating test results and reporting issues to relevant stakeholders. 
  • Configuring and maintaining the overall test environment (including HIL, test tools/platform). 
  • Providing support to the project manager and project team in all department activities. 
  • Investigating trends and technologies, implementing concepts, and developing prototypes. 

Qualifications

We seek individuals with a passion for technical products and a university degree in engineering, focusing on electronics, electrical, automotive or computer science. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in electronics, electrical, and software engineering, backed by minimum 3 years of professional experience in embedded software development or software testing. Additionally, candidates should possess: 

  • Expert knowledge in software testing techniques, test automation, scripting, processes, tools, and methods. Fundamentals of electronics and electrical components. 
  • Common automotive software development processes and work methodologies.  
  • Knowledge of automotive control systems, electric powertrain, power electronics; particularly Traction Inverter and Motor Controller ECUs (Electronic Control Units). Familiarity with other ECUs is advantageous. 
  • Comfort working independently or collaboratively, demonstrating a structured approach and a commitment to high-quality results. 
  • Strong communication skills. 

Your profile will be further strengthened if you have experience with: 

  • Common automotive industry tools from dSPACE, Vector, ETAS, TraceTronic, MathWorks, Lauterbach, etc. – e.g. SCALEXIO, ControlDesk, ECU-TEST, etc. 
  • Software testing for Electric Vehicles (xEV), especially for Inverter (Motor Controller), Battery Management, Power Electronics Controller, DC-DC Converter, etc. 
  • Low-Level Input Output (LLIO) testing of ECU AUTOSAR Basic Software (BSW) components – mainly diagnostics and communication, I/O Hardware Abstraction (IOHWABS), Microcontroller Abstraction Layer (MCAL), etc. 
  • Programming languages such as Python, C, CAPL, C#, or any other scripting languages. 
  • ISTQB – Certified Tester Foundation Level
  • Tools and platforms like Jira, Confluence, Git (GitLab/GitHub), CI/CT/CD. 
  • Requirements Management with ReqMan, DOORS or similar system; 
  • Model-based V&V, Simulation, Modelling, and Test Environment design and development.  

Languages  

You will work within an international and highly diverse and multi-cultural organisation on a day-to-day basis. A good level of English is sufficient, but good to have German as well.  

Travel  

You will be expected to undertake occasional business travel.
