Propulsion System Engineer

Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

We want you as a talented Propulsion System Engineer to help us in our mission to develop the design, testing, verification, and validation of our propulsion system for Nyx Earth.

Key responsibilities:

In your capacity as Propulsion System Engineer, your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day your duties will include:

• Own development of new or existing products or systems and guiding team through the end-to-end development process.

• Transform system requirements into hardware concepts and trade implementation and architecture options.

• Achieve conceptual and detailed performance calculations, systems analyses, and designs.

• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to address interface requirements and resolve integration challenges.

• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.

• Define and maintain an integrated development roadmap at system and subsystem levels.

What we would love to see from you:

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

• Over 3 years of related experience in storable propulsion system design, development, or testing.

• Practical systems engineering mindset and approach.

• Strong engineering fundamentals in fluid dynamics and thermodynamics.

• Experience in fluid analyses using classical hand-calculations, and simulation software (1D tools or CFD).

• Familiarity with industry standards (NASA or ECSS) applicable to space propulsion systems.
